Dr. Roberson was born and has remained in Mooresville, Indiana for sixty-six years. He graduated from Mooresville High School in 1964 where he was point guard on the 1963 MHS Morgan County Championship basketball team and All-Tourney Team.

Dr. Roberson married Linda Morley in 1968. Linda is a Mooresville High School graduate and retired after 26 years as an elementary teacher at Northwood Elementary. They are members of The Church at Mt. Gilead. His family also includes three children, all of whom graduated from Mooresville High School and have college degrees, and six grandchildren who attend Mooresville Schools.

Dr. Roberson received an academic scholarship at Indiana State University where he earned a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. He continued his education and graduated with a M.S. degree in Elementary Education and Administration from Indiana University, an Ed.S. Degree from Indiana State University in Educational Administration, and an Ed.D. Degree from Indiana University in Leadership and Curriculum. Dr. Roberson completed the requirements of the Indiana School Executive Leadership Academy. He also holds a broker's license in real estate after graduating from Keystone School of Real Estate.

At Plainfield, Indiana, Dr. Roberson taught sixth grade for four years. He then spent the next thirty years in the Mooresville Consolidated School Corporation as principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent. He was interim superintendent of Yorktown Community Schools in 2007/08 and interim superintendent of South Henry School Corporation in 2008/09.

Dr. Roberson belongs to several organizations including: Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity; Pi Gamma Mu National Social Science Honor Society; Pi Lambda Theta International Honor Society; Phi Delta Kappa; State and National Superintendents Association; American Educational Research Association; American Finance Association; Southern Indiana Superintendents Club; State, National and International Association of School Business Officials; and Charter Member of IASBO Foundation.

The following awards have been presented to Dr. Roberson: Mooresville High School Distinguished Alumni Award; Mooresvillian of the Year; Jaycees Outstanding Young Educator; AASA Superintendent of the Year Nominee; District 4 Superintendent of the Year; Region 7 School Business Official of the Year; Mooresville Community Foundation Founder Award and Emeritus Trustee; Who's Who in Executives and Business; Jefferson Award Nominee; State, National and International Registered School Business Administrator; Governor's Distinguished Hoosier Award; December 11, 2001 declared Dr. William E. Roberson Day by Mooresville Town Council; Indiana Department of Education Bell Ringer Award; Kentucky Colonel, Kentucky's highest award, presented by Governor of Kentucky; Mooresville High School Athletic Hall of Fame; Indiana's highest award, Sagamore of the Wabash, presented by Indiana's Governor; recipient of Morgan County Community Foundation's Make A Difference award, Indiana Association of School Business Officials Foundation Founder and Tiger Pride award from Yorktown Community Schools. In 2010 Dr. Roberson received the Colts Quarterback Community Service Award. In 2011 Dr. Roberson was inducted into the first class of the Wall of Success at Mooresville High School.

In his hometown of Mooresville, Dr. Roberson has been actively involved in the community. He served on the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce; founder of the Community Foundation; president, Zoning Appeals; vice president, Plan Commission; president, Friends of the Library; member, Park and Recreation Board; treasurer, Junior Football League; and vice president and treasurer, Junior Basketball League.

Dr. Roberson developed the Karing for Kindergartners program which he presented at three national education conventions. He also published two different articles in three educational magazines. His doctoral dissertation focuses on school finance and is titled, The Relationship Between Local Wealth and Access to Technology in Indiana K-12 Public Schools. It can be found in the Indiana University Library and Library of Congress.

Dr. Roberson was one of forty administrators from the United States to be selected to participate in the Fourth Annual Oxford International Round Table on the Superintendency and Principalship. The Round Table was held July 2001 at Oxford University in Oxford, England. Dr. Roberson was awarded a scholarship by ASBO International to attend an IAQ Symposium in Washington, D.C. in 2006 and 2011. He has presented at national and state conferences. Dr. Roberson presented Christian Leadership Can Make a Difference in Separation of Church and State in P-12 Public Education at the Mid-West Scholars Conference in Indianapolis, IN, and Pi Lambda Theta International Honor Society and Professional Association for Education in Richmond, VA. He also presented Servant Leadership and the Building Principal for the North Eastern Ohio Education Association in Cleveland, Ohio; NAESP in Nashville, TN., School Finance Is NotA Spectator Sport; and Leadership Matters for ASBO International in Buena Vista, Florida and Seattle, Washington; and also presented The Buy Out for Indiana Association of School Business Officials in Ft. Wayne, IN.

Dr. Roberson was Director of the Educational Leadership Program at Indiana Wesleyan University where he is also a graduate level professor teaching school law, leadership, research, principalship, school finance, school facilities and is a former university supervisor for principal candidates. He is also a visiting professor at Indiana University teaching school finance. Dr. Roberson has written college courses, a course addendum and rewritten six courses for IWU. He is contributing editor for the Indiana law supplement, Leading Schools Legally -"ABC's of School Law". Dr. Roberson is co-author of A Guide to Leading and Managing Indiana School Facilities, Leading Schools Financially and Leading Schools Financially-Indiana Supplement and Leading Schools Financially ABCs of Indiana ECA with Dr. Charles Hobbs and Dr. Thomas Dykiel. He also wrote a chapter on school finance in the book Viewpoints published by Pearson Custom Publishing. Dr. Roberson owns Roberson Consulting Services, LLC and works with school districts around the state on school finance issues.

Dr. Roberson is committed to community service. His dedication to community service has been documented in this Vita. He also served on the Indiana School Property Tax Control Board as a member from 2004-05 and chairman in 2005. Dr. Roberson is school board president of Mooresville Consolidated School Corporation and serves without pay as a community service. He also serves as volunteer for the Indy Racing League Ministry.
